Green IT

Abstract: Green IT is an economically beneficial long term investment for most organizations. Businesses are beginning to realize the benefits of making IT simpler and sustainable because IT needs are not diminishing any time soon. “Information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure accounts for roughly 3 percent of global electricity usage and the same percentage of greenhouse gasses (GHGs).” (Ruth, 2009) Multiple software providers, servers and systems are energy dependent assets that, if reduced, could help decrease the electricity bill on a regular basis. Additionally, sustainability in general will rely on IT to improve the power grid, collect energy saving metrics and solve complex issues involved with reuse, recycle and durability. Data collection will be obtained by contacting current green researchers with high level analysis articles. The Fisher index employed by BEA is an additional option for consideration which is provided publicly by the government.
